NASEN was formed in 1992, to support SEPs and to encourage the expansion of a network of organizations and individuals that advocate for syringe exchange. It is the first, largest, and only, at-cost supplier of harm reduction materials in the US. In 2018, NASEN’s acquired and distributed approximately $10M worth of harm reduction supplies on the behalf of 400 SEPs in the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. NASEN provided material support valued at $25K to 28 newly emerging and/or struggling SEPs via program support packages (formerly known as start-up grants
